Abiodun Olalekan, 32, has been charged with defiling an 18-year-old girl before Chief Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya of the Badagry Magistrate's Court in Lagos.
Olalekan was charged with two counts of rape, which is a violation of sections 261 and 260 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
The defendant, on the other hand, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
ASP Ikem Uko, the prosecution's counsel, stated during Wednesday's proceedings, "The defendant committed the offence on July 15, 2022, around 8pm at Muyanrin Ibiye, in the Badagry area of Lagos."
The defendant was granted bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in the same amount by the chief magistrate.
Adekomaiya postponed the matter until August 23, 2022, for further consideration.
