INVASION: COURT SLAMS ₦6M DAMAGES AGAINST OSUN POLICE

Justice Ayo Oyebiyi of Osun State High Court, Osogbo on Wednesday hammered N6 million against the police over infringement of key basic liberties.

Two candidates Yusuf Adepoju and Muddathir Kewdirorun had recorded a suit against the police following intrusion into their confidential homes by the men of Nigeria police around 3 AM on November sixteenth 2021.

Justice Oyebiyi conveying judgment said the candidates had demonstrated their argument against the police without question in suit number HOS/M. 157/2021 and requested that the respondent compensation a remuneration charge of N6 million to the candidates for gross maltreatment of their freedoms.

The adjudicator held that encroaching on the key freedoms of blameless regular people was against the Nigerian Constitution of 1999 as revised.

He made sense of that the candidate's security and their families were compromised by the police for completing such strike at the late hours of the evening.
